In the Wake
What if movement could be reversed at any time? Can a sense of linear progression, of a forward and backward be dissolved? If reversing is always possible, then where you go might also be the retracing of a pathway already taken in reverse.
In his master project, Max Wallmeier works with three dancers in three short processes, based on his interest in reversibility as a movement principle. The premise of each process is that a duet is developed from the meeting between an extract of the foregoing process and the interests of the invited dancer. In the first iteration, Marlene Bonnesen joined Max to develop scores and movement phrases and explore what spatiality they lend themselves to. These scores are the starting point for the second iteration with Lara Ostan Vejrup, in which they are, among other things, exploring how Lara’s practice of Body Mind Centering can support the work.
