Acting for film and tv - Workshop with Elisabet Sevholt
Acting Workshop with Elisabet Sevholt
This is a 3 days acting journey on a deep personal level.
You’ll discover the conscious and subconscious drives of a character and use your own life and your own story to identify. You’ll go to all the messy parts of being human; the light and the dark - your dreams, your misfortunes, your triumphs and your loves. You will also get tools to access strong emotions like fear, sadness and falling in love and to create intimate bonds like parent/child, siblings and childhood friends.
Your work will be both analytical, emotional, physical as well as intuitive - using your whole capacity as an actor and human being when you are creating a modern, powerful and complex acting for the 2020s, excellent for acting for the camera.
The foundation of the work is in the learnings of Stanislavskij, the heart is in the Chubbuck Technique and there are influences from other acting techniques such as Meisner and Strasberg. A big inspiration is also the work of the psychoanalyst Carl Jung.
MANDATORY PREPARATIONS
Two weeks before the workshop you receive a scene from a film, tv-series or play and scene partner. You study the scene and read/watch the script/movie/ tv-series, using the instructions you get at the same time. You rehearse at least twice together with your scene partner before the workshop, in real life or online.
Elisabet will choose the scenes and the scene partners carefully to adress as many different parts of the work as possible.
Working language is English, Danish and Swedish.
THE WORKSHOP
Day 1
First you and your scene partner do the scene and we analyze the driving forces at work, both the conscious and the subconscious. Next we find your personal connection - basically how it is about you.
Day 2
This day we find the ”game” in the scene: how to turn it around and make it about the other character. You explore actions, beats and doings in order to drive and win your goal and connect to the other character in the scene.
Day 3
The last day is about letting go, getting out of your head and allowing every moment in the scene to happen to create a complex, living, breathing human being on stage or screen.
