Masterclass with Kirk Baltz
The Four Dogs and a Bone
- An exclusive Meisner & Method Masterclass with Kirk Baltz for professional actors looking for a tune-up
We are more than thrilled to announce that acclaimed actor and acting coach Kirk Baltz will once again be leading a masterclass with us.
About the masterclass
Dearest All,
So looking forward to our working together!
We’ll be working with the remarkable play "Four Dogs and a Bone" by John Patrick Shanley. It's a fun romp. Give it a good read and bring a printed copy to class (it will be sent to you when you sign up for the workshop).
I'd like each of you to pull a monologue from the play that runs no more than 60-90 seconds. BUT...pick a character you would never play. Go full-on against typecasting. If you're an older dude like myself...yes embrace your inner Brenda or Collette and go for it. If you're a true ingénue or an actress who's been around ;)... go for Bradley or Victor!
Embrace your playful feminine and/or masculine energy within.
Be who and what you need to be to become this character. Get makeup, props, wardrobe, a wig if ya like and jump in all the way as we will be playing with this on our first day.
The monologue can be lines pieced together from a scene or a full monologue already there. OR...you may tell a story as your character about "a time and place when you cared deeply for someone whom you wanted to trust you but they seemed to be unable to".
The more you invest, commit and are ready to be sexy, ugly, sympathetic and curious on our first day together, the more we will collectively rise to new heights. I can't wait!!!
Our 4 days together will be rooted in building TRUST within ourselves and of those around us.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
See you all soon!!!
With Care and Respect,
Kirk
