SCORES IN THE LIBRARY: COMPOSITION AND SENSE-MAKING AMONG BOOKS
Open exhibition of the KUV research “Scores in the library: composition and sense-making“. In this exhibition, we offer a glimpse of what happens during these two intermittent years of relation with libraries.
We invite the visitors to browse around this body of work. To glimpse at sense and to feel trigger to keep navigating the library in speculative ways. Around the pages, you might stumble into possible instructions to engage with the library, you are more than welcome to do them. This exhibition is thought as a space of resonance as well as an active invitation towards alternative modes of inhabiting the library.
The exhibition will be open for visits while the library is open. However, there will be a couple of public events:

About the project
“Scores in the library: composition and sense-making among books” is a development research project within Den Danske Scenekunstskole, funded by the Danish Ministry (2024–2026). This KUV project explores how the library can become a fertile ground for reflection and practice — a site where sense-making unfolds in critical and speculative ways. Documentation plays a constitutive role in Artistic Research, and this project insists on its potential as an intrinsic part of artistic work. It questions notions of order, tendency, and orientation, and considers how documentation can actively support artistic processes. Since documentation is integral to the academic environment, it is crucial to keep reflecting on its procedures and implications, and to explore practices that operate in the intersection between creation and documentation.
The research consists of a score given to participants. This score — that lasts for 3 hours and 30 minutes — invites participants to browse and inhabit the library while composing a panel. The process involves engaging with the books in the library, as well as movement or somatic practices and writing. Inspired by Aby Warburg’s approach in the Mnemosyne Atlas, the score aims to provide a ground for reflecting on how we generate ideas, work with images (also considering text as image), and imagine alternative ways of world-making. This research becomes a great ground, for stage arts, to reflect and put into practices modes of opening intuitive and experiential relations and working with sense-making.
