Interviews
Being exposed to someone
I have developed an interview method that I apply
to people I don't know
who have been referred to me by mutual acquaintances.
The interviews take place at their homes,
where I bring blankets and snacks.
As I interview them, I try to « expose » myself to these individuals,
like a photosensitive paper -inside a camera- is exposed to light.
Later on, I create a small performance-based videos, inspired by this exposure.
The videos are not portraits of the interviewees.
Rather an expression of something I perceived from them. Could be a rhythm, a concern, a way of speaking.
Afterwards, I show them the video and they provide feedback.
What I am seeking is this translation:
how to move from the encounter with another human
to performative material.
To guide me, I follow protocols and constraints.

A piece of mattress
This practice sharing represents my research into kinesthaetic empathy in a participatory dance performance. I am curious about how an audience can be affected (experience a physical sensation), while watching and participating in a dance performance. The participation involves a stimulation of the senses.
“I don’t like sleeping on soft mattresses, I feel like I’m being absorbed by them.” “It is like this feeling of being on a cloud, you can’t ground yourself.”
It is the weight of the body and the weight of the material that interests me. It is the reciprocity of us touching and us being touched (by any material, matter, human or non-human) that makes me curious.
Can we predict the movement of weight and touch?
Can we feel more of our own body by exploring another material body, together?

ghostly memories collected
(on power of loss)
The practice presentation becomes this space in which I invite you to spend time with your body and memory. This is the result of recent weeks during which I have been learning about my friends' stories through shared practice. By visiting four studios in different countries I approached friends and newcomers. One body collected those experiences as a source to create, to become a stream for a time of presentation.
Attention! The practice may affect your mood or emotions due to work through the body.
