Twisting in the wind

by Lisbeth Ravn Riis

Hide description
Show description

I move with care

I move with sensation

I dance with my self image, with the thingness of body and bodyness of things. Disrupting and questioning hierakies and divisions of culture and nature, inside and outside, of material and immaterial, seen and unseen.

A human or a thing

A human or a girl

A girl or a dream

Here to share.. A moment in time… Carried by the wind… To notice, get hooked, zoom in,    lay back, look around. To loosen up. To hold on tight. To space out.    To fuck up and fly. To hang out in collaboration with sound, dust, air,   trees, tears, walls,  lovers and losers. To hang on tight as we twist in the wind.

MEDUS

by Paavali Velinpoika Kärkkäinen

Hide description
Show description

MEDUS is a research project around movement qualities on sensitivity, depth and heaviness.
A sensitive body in constant motion. Letting go of the desires of producing in order to enjoy the present moment, with all the sensations that allow the body to shift from different images. The beauty that co-exists with the heaviness lingering around the topic of being a sensitive human. The oppression of the shadow of toxic masculinity which tries to turn our sensitivity into stone. The questionable fight between masculine and feminine traits that drives us into judging each other with the gaze of Medusa.

Medusa is known from the Greek mythology, where she turned her victims into stone if she caught eye contact with them.

VICSOR – forced, aggressive smile

Are you feeling comfortable?
Are you having fun?
Is this what you wanted?
Why are you so angry?
Why are you acting out?
Chill.
Don’t take it too seriously.
This is not so lady-like.
Let it out. Why are you shouting?

“I'm a city girl I am warrior
I'm a city girl I'm a warrior
The city made me this way
I'm a drunkard I'm political
I'm contagious I'm analytical
And sometimes I'm a pushover
I'm a fighter I'm a believer
Im a mother I'm a cleaner
I'm an artist and I'm yours”

In between – the border – nature and culture. Welcoming a different idea of body and land. The wild settled within.

Exploring the presence of the human-nature distinction. Being with the kind of mind that creates the separation from the natural followed by discovering internal and external spaces where there was always just the together.

Words and sentences that are also present: no after, practice, Why are people and societies like this, soft, cry, stop, Hyperbole of alienation, What’s happening, Could I be openly queer (with everybody) if I was a flower, soil

There was an attempt of not crying
But I can't control my ability to feel
I’m living too much
It’s too hot to handle
You say you are an ugly cryer
I’m beautiful and I will crush you
A lonely cowgirl
She’s a bad little bitch
Pour it out
Ace of cups
We will be fake dancing
Singing sour grapes
- Lay all your love on me

As I practice a midline.

I sit upright. And think about ends and desire, what passes through and does not. My mouth and my cunt. And how I set it into motion.

I trace my vertebras and concepts of alignment.

A digestive system absorbing, consuming.

A wholly hole, wholesome and hollow. Swallowing.

As I make long strings of spaghetti. Linearity as trajectories. And invitations into rabbit holes. Strings for imagery and projection. Sensemaking and sensitivity.

And I invite you to the dinner table. As I practice a midline.

And stay around the table!

And enjoy a meal and drinks by the loving hosts, Lille Bakery.
