In her final project, Anne Elmholt (MFA in Performing Arts // Scenography) explores the line between you and me, between us and them, where we end and others begin.

IT BORDERS ON investigates the line between you and me, the line between us and them, where we end and others begin. The line between authentic and fake, between high-art and low-art. It explores the situations that occur when we cross a line and whether it’s possible to absorb something without taking it from someone or somewhere.

Walking this tightrope, it explores how we aren’t an isolated entity but a construction created through our social relations and the places we find ourselves in. How does place impact our identity, our behaviour, and our perception? How do people, culture, and memory?

The project borders on being a performance and an art installation. It takes shape as a game, where performers create and recreate artworks, exploring how their placement and what they are in relation to affects our perception and understanding of them.

Anne Elmholt is studying the MFA in Performance Art: Scenography. She is a performance maker and scenographer, who uses scenography and space as a catalyst for dramaturgical scores and systems. She uses the theatre and her performances as a laboratory to research the social and political situations we find ourselves in today.

IT BORDERS ON is her graduation project.
